September Announcements

1. Gathering

Those of you who know what Gathering is, and what it means to our school, will be excited to hear that this week is our week to host Gathering! That’s right, Gathering is back this year and although it’s virtual, it still represents a special ritual that has been around at CFI since the very beginning. It’s a time for our class to share what we’ve learned, experienced, and felt together so far this year. Gathering will take place this Thursday, September 23rd at 2:20pm sharp and will last anywhere from 20-25 minutes. You can find the link for our Gathering in the same email that told you about this blog post. I don’t want to give any spoilers away, but I can tell you that our class voted and ultimately decided that are thought of the week would be “Keep our school beautiful”. We’ll share some of the things we have learned about how harmful littering is to our community and some actions we have taken to advocate for and protect the Earth around us. For those that can’t join us virtually, I will record the Zoom call.

2. Curriculum Night

Curriculum Night will also be virtual this year. Our Curriculum Night will be held Thursday, September 30th, 7:15-8:00pm. I will send that link out in the days leading up to Curriculum Night. To respect your time I’d like to do a townhall style Q&A and answer questions that are submitted in advance.

You can submit a question for me to answer at Curriculum Night by clicking this link and filling out the Google Form. There will be a name attached to the form for my records, but I won’t share who asked what questions with the group during the Q&A.

This is what I have in mind for our time together:

7:15-7:25pm – My reflections on the year so far

7:25pm-7:45pm – Student Led Curriculum Talks in Breakout Rooms

7:45-8:00pm Q&A

I will record the Q&A segment for anyone who cannot attend and I will do my best to record the breakout room sessions.

The kids have worked so hard this year and I can’t wait to share with you a glimpse of what our days together look like.
