About

About me.

My name is Rutland Martin and joining the CFI family has been a dream of mine since I was in college. I’m from the small town of Pelion, SC and am the oldest of 11 children. I attended the University of South Carolina where I received a degree in Elementary Education and was a member, and captain, of the Coed Cheerleading team. While I was at USC I attended several conferences at CFI and always dreamed of working at a school “like” CFI or at least having a classroom that looked like the classrooms I saw at those conferences. I could have never imagined that a few years later I’d be living and learning here alongside the incredible staff and students at the Center. When I’m not in the classroom, I’m often playing shows with my band, Blues Canoe, and coaching cheerleading. At home, my favorite things to do include making music, spending time outside, and finding new documentaries to watch.
